What is the Living Building Challenge?
The Living Building Challenge (LBC) by the International Living Future Institute (ILFI) is the most demanding certification for sustainable buildings. Its regenerative design approach promotes the creation of spaces that give back more than they take from the environment.
What is the Declare Program?
The Declare program acts as a “nutrition label” for building products, detailing their origin, composition, and end-of-life path. This initiative fosters greater transparency in the building industry, contributing to a healthier and more sustainable world.
What are the Three Declaration Status Levels?
- LBC Red List Free– The strictest designation, requiring full disclosure of 100% of ingredients with no Red List substances. Airelight™ Luminaires meet this high standard, as indicated on the Declare Label. No other lighting product holds this distinction.
- LBC Compliant– At least 99% of ingredients are disclosed, but the product may contain Red List materials that qualify under an LBC Exception.
- Declared– All ingredients are fully disclosed, but the product contains one or more Red List substances that are not covered by an LBC Exception.
