Airelight™ Linear SC 0.5 Directly Attached to T-Bar Grid
Architect: Carmina Wood Morris, DPC

Newly installed in the Seneca One Tower, Airelight™ Linear SC Luminaires enable lively geometric illumination in 43North's office space. With the ability to attach directly to the T-bar and no need for any reconstruction of the ceiling grid, Airelight™ Luminaires allow designers endless options for creative lighting design.

Airelight™ Luminaires are designed to fit precisely between ceiling tiles. With a profile of only 5mm, the luminous surface is perfectly flush with the ceiling tiles, producing the illusion of the lighting floating mid-air. Available in two widths (0.5 and 1.0) and capable of up to 770 lumens/foot, the Airelight Linear SC is compatible with both the 9/16 inch as well as the 15/16 inch ceiling grid.

International Living Future Institute's
Living Building Challenge and Declare Program: Understanding the Basics

What is the Living Building Challenge?
The ILFI's Living Building Challenge is the most rigorous sustainable building certification program. Its regenerative design framework enables the creation of spaces that give more than they take.

What is the Declare program?
Declare offers a "nutrition label" for building products identifying where a product comes from, what it is made of and where it goes at the end of its life. The program is designed to expand transparency in the building market and shape a healthier, more sustainable environment for all.

Declare_MC2.jpg

What are the three declaration status designations?

LBC Red List Free - The most stringent of designations. 100% of ingredients are disclosed and product does not contain any Red List ingredients. Airelight™ Luminaires fall under this category as seen on the Declare Label shown. No other lighting product can currently claim this distinction.

LBC Compliant - At least 99% of ingredients are disclosed. Product may contain Red List ingredients that fall under an LBC Exception.

Declared - 100% of ingredients are disclosed, but product contains one or more Red List ingredients not covered by an LBC Exception.

AIRELIGHT™ LUMINAIRES
THE OPTIMAL LIGHTING CHOICE FOR
HEALTHIER INDOOR AIR QUALITY

Air quality can have a dramatic effect on not only your health and well-being, but also your productivity. Typical office settings have a variety of factors, including building materials, that contribute to the overall air quality. Light sources are one building component that can play an integral role in the wellness of any workplace. Do you know what materials the light sources around you are made of and what impact they have on you and your environment? With Airelight™ LED Ceramic Luminaires, Goldeneye® endeavored to design the healthiest, most sustainable light source and achieved this with remarkable results.

Selective Materials Sourcing
Airelight™ Luminaires are comprised of aluminum and ceramic and free of fossil based materials. The light emitting ceramic surface of all Airelight™ Luminaires also acts as the diffuser, and the heat sink. This intentional avoidance of plastics allows Airelight™ Luminaires to offer the desired amount of light without contributing harmful gasses to the environment. By contrast, a typical competitor's light source uses acrylic, or other plastics, for the diffuser resulting in a substantial amount of outgassing of plastics.

Minimalist Design
By sheer design, Airelight™ Luminaires utilize 50x less raw materials than conventional light sources (when fixture weight is measured in a typical installation). This fundamentally distinguishing design means that not only energy efficiency is attained, but efficiency of natural resources as well.

Recyclable
The very same attributes that ensure Airelight™ Luminaires have no intrinsic outgassing at all, also make the light source 100% recyclable at life's end.

AIRELIGHT™ LUMINAIRES  vs  TROFFER LIGHTING

As you can see, two compact boxes of Airelight™ Linears are able to effectively replace copious amounts of plastic, metal and light bulbs.

Airelight™ Linear ES 0.5 Installed Behind Blue Glass

Designed to reflect the coastal cliffs of La Jolla, California and nearby Pacific Ocean, this architectural ceiling provides a beautiful light source to the common area of a prestigious university. Airelight™ Linears illuminate each blue glass panel and pay tribute to the natural environment by using 50x less materials than conventional LED lighting fixtures. Airelight™ Luminaires are also 100% recyclable making them the superior option for sustainable building design.

Airelight™ Luminaires
Embeddable In Any Building Material

All Airelight™ Luminaires are UL Certified and contain no plastic or other flammable materials. The exposed light emitting ceramic surface is capable of withstanding temperatures as high as 3500° F which translates to unmatched fire safety. By comparison, conventional LED light sources use plastic diffusers or plastic waveguides which contribute toxic fumes in the event of a fire. Airelight™ Luminaires are, by design, free of toxins.

The International Living Future Institute's (ILFI) Living Building Challenge is the world's most rigorous proven performance standard for buildings. The ILFI’s Declare program is a product ingredients initiative designed to expand transparency in the building market and shape a healthier, more sustainable environment for all.

Declare offers a “nutrition label” for building products identifying where a product comes from, what it is made of and where it goes at the end of its life. There are three declaration status designations: Declare, LBC Compliant and LBC Red List Free. Of these designations, LBC Red List Free is the most stringent and requires the disclosure of all ingredients, none of which can be on the Living Building Challenge Red List.

Office Ceiling T-Bar Grid

Featured Installation: Office Ceiling T-Bar Grid
Airelight™ Linear SC 0.5 Direct Attachment

In an office with multiple desk spaces, the desired lighting needed to not only illuminate each desk, but offer a stylistic component as well. The ability to incorporate Airelight™ Linears into pre-existing ceiling grids without any design reconstruction made this a smooth, custom installation.

AirelightInvisibleCeilingLighting.jpg

Additionally, when the lights are off, the Airelight™ Linears go completely unnoticed.

The thin profile of the Airelight™ Linear is preserved when directly attached to the T-Bar Grid with magnets. Each ribbon connector has 4 terminals to allow for ease of wiring multiple Airelight™ Linears to the power supply.

Artisan Bakery Display Shelves

AirelightBakeryDisplayLighting.jpg

Featured Installation: Prager Bros. Artisan Bakery Display Shelves
Airelight™ Linear ES 0.5 U-Channel Surface Mounted on Wood Shelves

To better showcase an artisan bakery's bread, Airelight™ Linears were surface mounted on existing wood shelves. After securing the Airelight™ Linear ES 0.5 U-Channel with screws along the top edge of the shelves, the Linears were daisy chained together and oriented so that the light was directed toward the back wall. Full illumination of the bakery shelves was easily obtained using only 14 feet of Airelight™ Linears.

The before photo of the shelves without Airelight™ Linears shows the significant impact this product has for display type lighting applications. Unlike conventional LED lighting, the uniform Lambertian (cosine) output distribution of Airelight™ Linears eliminate hot spots and glare in light reflected from the objects being illuminated. This attribute makes Airelight™ Linears the preferred solution for cabinet, undercounter and display case lighting.

AirelightUChannel.jpg

Maintaining the slim profile of the Airelight™ Linear, the U-Channel serves as housing and provides an optimal solution for surface mounted lighting applications and under cabinet installations.
U-Channel is available for both the Airelight™ Linear 0.5 and 1.0 widths and in multiple finish options (Steel Grey, White, additional color choices upon request). Constructed with 24 gauge steel, the U-Channel is light weight and can be installed with screws or mounting tape.
